Fed adds $9.0 bln bank reserves via overnight repos

NEW YORK, Jan 23 (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve said on Wednesday it added $9.0 billion in temporary reserves to the banking system through overnight fixed system repurchase agreements.


The Fed said it accepted as collateral:
-- $5.727 billion in Treasuries, stop-out 1.79 percent,
-- $1.523 billion in agencies, stop-out 1.83 percent,

-- $1.750 billion in mortgage-backed securities, stop-out 1.84 percent.

Earlier, the Fed added $5.0 billion in temporary reserves via seven-day fixed system repos and accepted as collateral:

-- $2.936 billion in Treasuries, stop-out 1.72 percent,

-- $1.990 billion in agencies, stop-out 1.76 percent,

-- $0.074 billion in mortgage-backed securities, stop-out 1.79 percent.

In morning dealings, federal funds were trading at 1.813 percent, above the Fed's 1.75 percent target for the rate.
