What is the central government?
The definition of the central government sector in the income
statement and balance sheet is broader than that used in the
central government budget: it embraces all government agencies
and public enterprises answerable to the Riksdag and the
government as well as funds for which government agencies render
accounts. It also includes Sweden’s social insurance offices,
the Swedish Inheritance Fund and the share capital of the
Swedish central bank, but not the central bank in other
respects, the recognised unemployment benefit societies, the
national pension funds or the Premium Pension Authority.
