BERLIN (AFX) - Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said there is currently no risk of deflation in Germany, rejecting comments from the IMF yesterday.

The comments were made at a news conference.

The IMF said that the euro zone's largest economy is at significant risk of falling into deflation, and has limited room for policy maneuver to deal with the situation.

"The probability of mild deflation taking hold over the next year is considerable," the IMF said in a special study on deflation risks, referring to Germany.
