Russia issues statistics for Jan-Sep 2003 gold and currency reserves

Moscow, 8 October: Russia's gold and currency reserves in January- September 2003 grew by 14.28bn dollars, and in percentage terms, by 29.9 per cent, that is, from 47,793m dollars on 1 January to 62,073m dollars on 1 October.

The above is reflected in information released by the Central Bank of Russia on Wednesday [8 October], Prime-TASS reports.

Currency reserves for nine months of this year have increased 32.4 per cent - from 44,054m dollars to 58.33bn dollars, while gold reserves have increased 0.1 per cent, from 3,739m dollars to 3,743m dollars.

In the gold and currency reserves' structure, the share of foreign currency has grown from 92.18 per cent to 93.97 per cent, while the share of gold correspondingly has dropped from 7.82 per cent to 6.03 per cent.

Moreover, Russia's gold and currency reserves dropped 679m dollars in September 2003.
