-->NEW YORK, March 10 (Reuters) - U.S. gold miner Hecla Mining Co. (HL,Trade) on Wednesday said the Venezuelan government has withheld about $2 million of Hecla's gold from export as the government reviews the regulatory compliance of mining companies operating in the country.

The Coeur d'Alene, Idaho-based company said the 5,000 ounces being withheld represent about 2 percent of its annual production.

Hecla said it is in compliance with all tax, export and regulatory laws and is providing documentation to the proper authorities for release of the property.
