The U.S. Index of Leading Economic Indicators fell by 0.3% in March.
While the leading index fell, the coincident index, a barometer of the current state of the economy, rose by 0.1%.
The lagging index, a barometer of where the economy has been, fell 0.4%. The ratio of the coincident to lagging indexes has risen for three consecutive months, an indication of further economic growth.
On net, the leading index in tandem with the other information contained in the release suggest a continuation of this current period of weak growth but [b]not yet a recession.
