<font size=4> 6. Fazit/Kurzkommentar </font>

Der Goldpreis ist heute leicht gefallen. Die Goldaktien gaben, gemessen am XAU, deutlich nach. Die Gold-Lease-Rates zeigten heute ein uneinheitliches Bild. Die 6-Monats und 1-Jahres-Rate legten zu während die kurzfristigen Raten nachgaben. Damit ist außerdem wieder die normale Struktur der Lease-Rates entstanden. Vorher war diese ja teilweise invers.

About 350 employees of a Canadian-run gold mine marched through the streets of this northern port on Wednesday to protest a pending court decision that could shut down the company. Employees of Toronto-based TVX Gold Inc. are demanding that the mine which represents the largest single foreign investment in Greece be allowed to operate. Workers in the Chalkidiki peninsula located near Thessaloniki and the site of the mine went on a day-long strike in support of the TVX employees. The Council of State Greece's highest administrative court reportedly decided last month to revoke government permits allowing the plant to operate. Residents and local officials near the plant at the ancient Kassandra mines had filed an appeal against TVX with the court. They claim the cyanide used in the gold processing and the arsenic created as a byproduct would endanger the environment. The court has not yet published its decision and workers hope that when it does it may allow some leeway for the mine to continue operating. A published decision is expected sometime this month. TVX, which bought the mines in December 1995 for dlrs 47 million, insists its gold-extracting process is environmentally safe and has promised to clean up pollution left by past mining operations. The company has been doing some mining, but no gold processing. It has said it will not comment until the court ruling is officially published. It has so far spent a total of dlrs 300 million and had planned to spend another dlrs 260 million for the plant, the company said. Except for gold, the ancient Kassandra mines have yielded various metals including zinc and silver for nearly 2,000 years. ck-lo-pq

Ja ist mir auch aufgefallen. Die Veränderungen waren sehr stark. Vor allem die 1 Jahres-Rate ist deutlich zurückgegangen, während die 1-Monats-Rate nun doch recht deutlich über 2% gestiegen ist.
