NEW YORK (CNNfn) - The U.S. economy grew more slowly than previously thought in the fourth quarter, the government reported Wednesday.
Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the world's biggest economy, grew at a 1.1 percent rate in the quarter, a bit slower than the 1.4 percent rate estimated a month ago, the Commerce Department said.
The revised number was in line with forecasts on Wall Street and comes ahead of a widely awaited speech by Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, who was to address a House panel later in the day.
