Bedingt durch den Memorialday am Montag sind wohl einige wöchentliche Veröffentlichungen durcheinander gekommen. Hier nun:

~ die wöchentlichen Zahlen für Weekly Chain Store Sales für die Woche, die am 26.5.2001 endete, ein Rückgang von -0,1% war zu beobachten. Die Woche zuvor erbrachte noch einen Anstieg um +0,5%.



~ und zuletzt die MBA Mortage Applications Survey - die Hypothekenanträge, der Comp.-Index wie auch der Refinanzierungs-Index stiegen beide. Ersterer um 4,3% auf nunmehr 495,9 und letzterer von 1.546,8 auf 1.622,5, und trägt einen Grossteil des Comp-Zuwachses. Die veröffentlichten Zahlen weisen auf einen, starken Immobilienmarkt hin.

<ul> ~ die Zahlen:
~ In the week ending May 25, the MBA’s composite index of weekly mortgage activity rebounded from the previous week’s decline, for an increase of 4.3%. When adjusted for seasonal factors, all components rose on a weekly basis.
~ Purchase applications increased by 3.8%, with the index currently standing at 302.2. This is the fourth time in the last five months the index has exceeded the 300 mark that translates loosely into 6 million home sales.
~ Refinancing activity rebounded even more strongly, rising 4.9% from the previous week. This is the first increase in the index in four weeks and at 1622.5, it stands about 30% below its level of four weeks ago.
~ The pick up in mortgage applications is occurring even as the contract rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage rose 13 basis points to 7.29%. Adjustable rate mortgage applications, however, declined by four basis points to 5.68%
~ The fixed rate mortgage applications index increased by 4.7% and adjustable rate index was weak, with a gain of 0.6%. The government market indices are rising more quickly than the conventional market.
