Asahi Bank Sells $715M in Bad Loans + Frage
Hi!
Zunächst folgender Artikel:
Asahi Bank Sells $715M in Bad Loans
TOKYO (AP) - Asahi Bank, a major Japanese commercial bank,
plans to remove around 96 billion yen ($715 million) of bad loans from
its balance sheet by selling them to a government-backed debt
collection agency.
The bank will sell the loans to the Resolution and Collection Corp. by
next month as part of its pledge to get rid of 470 billion yen ($3.5
billion) of bad loans this fiscal year ending in March, a bank spokesman
said.
Asahi Bank's announcement comes on the eve of its tie-up with Daiwa
Bank and two smaller regional banks, Osaka Bank and Nara Bank, set
for March 1. The alliance will put the banks - to be called Daiwa
Holdings - fifth among Japan's megabanks with around 50 trillion yen
($370 billion) in combined assets.
Japan's banks have at least 32 trillion yen ($240 billion) worth of bad
loans since stock and property prices began their long plunge in the
early 1990s.
The bad loan problem hampers the recovery of Japan's economy -
now in its third recession in a decade - because it forces banks to cut
lending.
Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi has vowed to boost growth and help
banks shed their sour loans, but many lenders have been reluctant to
cut credit to clients fearing damage to long-standing business ties.
Wenn ich es recht verstehe, dann kauft die"government-backed debt collection agency", also eine staatlich unterstützte Agentur oder öffentliche Behörde diese faulen Kredite, oder? Und dann?
schöne Grüsse
Cosa
