Coeur D'Alene Mines Auditor Issues Going Concern Doubt

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Arthur Andersen LLP said there is"substantial doubt" about Coeur D'Alene Mines Corp.'s (CDE) ability to continue as a going concern.

In the company's annual report filed Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the auditor said the company has suffered recurring losses from operations, has $23.2 million in convertible debentures that need to be repaid or refinanced by June and declining amounts of cash and cash equivalents.

The company said it hopes to effect exchange transactions under which either its common stock or 13.375% convertible senior subordinated notes due Dec. 31, 2003, will be exchanged for outstanding its maturing 6% debentures....
