Chef des Nicht Hedgers Goldfields wird neuer Vorstand vom WGC!!!
Gold Fields chief appointed World Gold Council chairman
SYDNEY
GOLD Fields Ltd chairman and chief executive Chris Thompson has been elected as the new chairman of the World Gold Council, it was announced today.
Mr Thompson replaces AngloGold chairman and chief executive Bobby Godsell as head of the industry's peak body.
"Seeing that I will soon have more time available as a non-executive Chairman of Gold Fields Ltd, the board of the World Gold Council has asked me if I could commit more time to the organisation at this exciting point in the development of the gold markets," Mr Thompson said.
"I believe passionately in the industry and feel that it should concentrate on marketing as much as it concentrates on costs.
"The World Gold Council is the organisation that can deliver the marketing expertise the industry needs," he said.
South Africa's Gold Fields, the world's fourth largest gold producer, paid $470 million for WMC Ltd's St Ives and Agnew gold operations in Western Australia last year.
