NVR, Inc. operates in two business segments: the construction and marketing of homes, and mortgage banking. NVR derived an aggregate of approximately 61% and 62% of its 2000 and 1999 homebuilding revenues, respectively, from the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland metropolitan areas. NVR's homebuilding operations construct and sell single-family detached homes, townhomes and condominium buildings under three tradenames: Ryan Homes, NVHomes and Fox Ridge Homes. In addition to building and selling homes, NVR provides a number of mortgage-related services through its regional mortgage banking operations, which operate in 10 states. NVR's mortgage banking business generates revenues primarily from origination fees, gains on sales of loans, title fees and sales of servicing rights.
