WorldCom's bankers debated a bailout of the telecom company.
Already, there appears to be disagreement among the lenders about the
terms of a loan, which could prevent a bankruptcy-protection filing.

WASHINGTON - Seventeen-thousand WorldCom Inc. employees, about
21 percent of a worldwide work force, will be notified on Friday that they
are out of work.
