"He (Saint-Just) rose by degrees in the Convention, and beginning in May 1793 he joined the
Committee of Public Safety, the small group that governed France. After playing a
considerable part in eliminating both left and right deviationists, he finally supplanted
the less audacious Robespierre.

The year II of the French Republican calendar (1793-94), in which Saint-Just, elected
president of the Convention, passed the Ventôse (March) Decrees and led the
victorious attack against the Austrians at Fleurus in the Austrian Netherlands
(modern Belgium) on June 26, 1794, marked the high point of his career. <font color="FF0000">The
Ventôse Decrees, by which the property of enemies of the Revolution was confiscated
for the benefit of poverty-stricken patriots, were the most revolutionary act of the
French Revolution, because they expropriated from one class for the benefit of
another.</font> During the same period Saint-Just drafted Fragments sur les institutions
républicaines, far more radical proposals than the constitutions he had helped to
frame; this work laid the theoretical groundwork for a communal and egalitarian
society." (EB)

Der Beginn des"modernen Umverteilungsstaates" - wie alles per Macht & Gewaltakt entstanden.
