It was our intent to point out that this index has provided false signals
before, and could do so again. Also, the largest drop in confidence was in
the region where the sniper attacks were occurring and the survey was before
the snipers were caught. The survey was also before the stock market rally,
so we do believe this report overstates any potential weakness in consumer
spending in the months ahead.
