-->this is exactly right: in a deflationary era, rising commodities prices have a DEflationary effect, since they do nothing to restore corporate pricing power, or the pricing power of labor. in essence, they just squeeze margins even more, as well as pressuring the consumer's wallet, leaving less money to spend on other things besides food and energy. this is also the reason why the bond market has ignored the rising CRB index completely...it 'knows' that the effect will be deflationary.
