Lucent said it expects earnings for its fourth fiscal quarter of 2000 to be lower than the company's previously announced guidance. The company expects pro forma earnings per share from continuing operations for the quarter to be in the range of 17 cents to 18 cents per share compared to 24 cents for the year-ago quarter. Wall Street had expected Lucent to earn 27 cents a share for the quarter.
