Argentina in Dire Straits: German Bondholder Freezes Ambassadors´ Car

Berlin, Jun. 03 (Bloomberg) -- Argentina´s default on external debt is beginning to take effect now. It is the first time a creditor succeeded in seizing an asset overseas. German bondholder Rolf Koch, who sued Argentina last month, took the chance to freeze the car of the Argentine ambassador Enrique Candioti, during a refurbishment in a Berlin garage."It was an action under cover of darkness," said the 55-year-old family-man who was accompanied by a German bailiff. Koch has pursued to get a judgment for enforcement since he decided to buy the bonds in the fall of last year."Now it is time to act. I want the money," so the professional vulture creditor whose shining example is the famous"Elliott case". A few years ago this US-based fund actually succeeded against Peru to get fulfilment. Nevertheless Koch will remain the exception. There was a ruling in Italy last year, which did not have any consequences. Another lawsuit in New York failed completely in May.
