The rate on the benchmark 30-year mortgage rose for the seventh consecutive week, hitting 6.34 percent, Freddie Mac said Thursday. That was up from 6.14 percent a week earlier and marked the highest level in more than a year when the rate was at 6.43 percent on Aug. 2, 2002. The 15-year mortgage and the one-year adjustable-rate loan also rose in the Freddie Mac's (FRE) survey for the week ending Aug. 8.
