Goldhungrige Japaner in Alaska
-->Reuters - Sumitomo Metal Mining Co Ltd, Japan's biggest gold producer,
will spend about 40 billion yen ($ 337 million) to develop the Pogo gold mine in Alaska.
The company aims to produce 12.5 tonnes of gold at the mine in 2005,
which would make it the largest gold mine development project by a Japanese company.
