-->On the orders of Transport Secretary, Alistair Darling, the Association of Chief Police Officers, has come up with a Big Brother-style system, called Electronic Vehicle Identification. The scheme would force carmakers to fit a microchip in all new vehicles. Older cars would have them added. Sensors installed at the side of every road will then pick up signals from the chip, pinpointing the car's exact position. It would be programmed with the road's speed, parking and general driving restrictions and will record each car that breaks them. The law-abiding public could be hit with serious fines, while real criminals, like car thieves find a way of avoiding detection. The scheme is a total invasion of privacy and turns the public into criminal suspects. Even if the scheme is put off the EU intends to put in a similar system. Britain believes the EVI will bring in $100 million in revenue a year.
