STOCKHOLM, Oct 13 (Reuters) - The world's biggest metals powder producer Hoganas (Stockholm:HOGAb.ST - News) said on Monday it expected a weak market in the fourth quarter, but that its full-year pre-tax profit would improve on 2002 as planned.

"For the fourth quarter we expect a weak market development," Hoganas said in a statement."The earlier forecast for the full year 2003, however, still holds, namely that the result before taxes is expected to be better than in 2002."

Hoganas, whose report analysts see as an indicator of market conditions in the global auto industry, reported a third-quarter pre-tax profit of 95 million crowns ($12.41 million) against expectations of 109 million and 90 million a year earlier.

Sales were 895 million crowns against expectations of 867 million crowns and 791 million a year ago, giving an operating margin of 11.6 percent compared with last year's 13.1 percent.
