-->...To offset the expected fall in core capital ratio to 6.4% after the
writedowns , the bank is issuing 53.3 million new shares Wednesday. At the end
of September, Commerzbank's core capital ratio - the amount of capital set
aside to meet regulatory requirements - stood at 7.8%, and it's expected to
stand at around 7% after the capital hike.

The bank said it wrote down around EUR1.3 billion after revaluing its
industrial and financial holdings portfolio, and a further EUR1 billion on its
stake in Germany's largest mortgage bank Eurohypo AG (NHY.XE) as well as asset
management units, such as U.K. fund manager Jupiter....
