Very good observation. The TRAN is looking to form a HnS pattern, and looking at the airline index I see a similar pattern that broke the neckline already and doesn’t look too healthy. If this continues down it will drag the TRAN down and could affect the DOW too.
One of the reasons of course is the Jet Blue warning and the loss of almost 10 points in a week, and Southwest Airlines didn’t fair any better. I think Lehman Brothers cut estimates in the whole sector.
So, sure the TRAN could see the pattern developing and if it does the downside target, as I eyeballed it, could be in the 2650 area, not that it will get there but it could technically speaking. It bears watching. A move to 3000 or a bounce off of the neckline invalidates this possibility.
