LONDON (AFX) - Sterling was buoyed after the Bank of England cemented the market's interest rate expectations with upward revisions to UK economic growth forecasts for the coming two years, analysts said.
In its quarterly Inflation Report, the BoE said it is now forecasting GDP growth over the coming two years of over 3 pct, which is above its own long-term trend rate of around 2.5 pct and up on November's forecasts. This, it added, will put additional pressure on inflation.
The BoE is forecasting that the consumer price index will remain below the 2.0 pct target until 2006...
