Deutsche Bank shares rally on talk of bid (DB, C) By Greg Morcroft
NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Shares of Germany's Deutsche Bank AG (DB) rose more than 7 percent Thursday after renewed speculation the company may attract a bid from American giant Citigroup (C). The shares fell back from a high of $94.87, to trade in late morning at $92.79, up 5.9 percent. The AFX news agency Thursday quoted a stock trader in Europe who said,"There now is a rumor that Citigroup will bid 90 euro per Deutsche Bank share." A Deutsche Bank spokesman said the company had no comment on the Citigroup talk, or the action in its shares. Deutsche Bank recently confirmed that it held exploratory merger talks with Citigroup, but said it wasn't interested in a deal at the time.
