BOJ buys Y1.9216 trln shares from banks by Feb 29

TOKYO, March 2 (Reuters) - The Bank of Japan said on Tuesday it had bought a cumulative 1.9216 trillion yen ($17.63 billion) of shares held by Japanese banks by February 29 under a programme aimed at reducing the banks' exposure to stock market volatility.
