China soll angeblich nächste Woche CNY um 7% aufwerten - weg Inflationsdruck

Late Asian session, Tokyo traders are quoting a report in the Korean Economic Daily indicating that China may strengthen its currency by about 7.0% next week (October 15th) to ease inflationary pressures. The Korean daily cited unidentified Chinese sources. USD/JPY in the meantime has moved south as it falls from 111. 23 to 111.07 while EUR/USD moves up from 1.2285 to 1.2296. Some of the JPY crosses are also seeing position play as AUD, GBP, EUR and CHF lose ground against the JPY. We are not ruling out the possibility that Chinese authorities themselves may have something to say about the matter, within the next 24 hours - at least to clear the air!
