GeorgeWBush.com nur in USA erreichbar... hier dennoch wichtige auszĂĽge
-->Bushs Website für Europäer gesperrt

1."Consider the historic gains made by promoting freedom. Under the President's leadership:
Fifty million people have been liberated from despotic, totalitarian regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The terrorist camps in Afghanistan have been destroyed. The Afghan government is conducting its own democratic elections and is an ally in the hunt to bring Al Qaeda terrorists to justice.
Supported by coalition allies, the men and women of our Armed Forces have brought Saddam Hussein- a declared enemy of America and supporter of terrorism who had the capability and a proven willingness to produce and use weapons of mass destruction - to justice. The brutal regime of Saddam Hussein is gone. An interim government is leading the Iraqi people to freedom."
2."Combating Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction
Many in the world seek to use the world's most dangerous weapons against us. The President's national security strategy gives regimes a choice. They can choose to pursue Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) at great peril, cost, and international isolation. Or they can choose to renounce these weapons, take steps to rejoin the international community, and have the help of the United States and the world in creating a better future for their citizens. Libya's Moammar Ghadafi responded to the United States and our allies and surrendered his weapons of mass destruction program. He has provided critical information about how WMD knowledge is being secretly spread to the most dangerous regimes in the world.
"Our Nation, this generation, will lift a dark threat of violence from our people and our future. We will rally the world to this cause, by our efforts and by our courage. We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail." President George W. Bush, October 26, 2004"
3. Improving Intelligence
America must have the best intelligence possible to win the War on Terror and to make America and the world safer. Reforms are already underway, yet there is more work to be done. Working with Congress, the President and his Administration have steadfastly advanced toward the goal of an integrated, unified national intelligence effort. The President has already succeeded in obtaining record funding increases and achieving reforms that close dangerous gaps in counterterrorism efforts.
4."Protecting America at Home, By Promoting Freedom and Progress Abroad
Based on America's values of compassion, freedom, and democracy, President Bush has launched an unparalleled effort to spread prosperity to the poorest corners of the world, replacing despair with hope and promoting global stability. President Bush will continue to pursue sound strategies to help improve the lives and productive potential of individuals in all nations.
Promoting Development and Reform
- Through the Millennium Challenge Account, President Bush will increase America's development assistance by 50 percent to support nations that demonstrate a commitment to governing justly, investing in their people, and promoting economic freedom.
Fighting the Scourge of AIDS and Other Infectious Diseases
- President Bush will continue to implement his five-year, $15 billion Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (including contributions to the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis) to treat at least 2 million patients with life-extending drugs, prevent 7 million new infections, and care for 10 million AIDS orphans and others affected by the disease. He will also continue American leadership in the fight against other infectious diseases like malaria, tuberculosis, and polio.
Expanding the Benefits of the Global Economy
- President Bush will continue to promote an inclusive trade agenda that benefits American workers and spreads prosperity to poor countries regionally and globally and successfully concludes the World Trade Organization's Doha Development Agenda in a way that benefits all parties.
Meeting Urgent Needs
- Through the aggressive implementation of the President's G-8 Famine Initiative, Water for the Poor Initiative, and other international efforts, the President will continue to work to end hunger, provide clean water, and promote basic education for the world's poorest people.
Reforming the International Financial Institutions
- President Bush will continue the reforms he successfully implemented to increase the use of grants instead of loans and to help developing nations avoid the burden of insurmountable debt. He will also continue to demand accountability and real results from international financial institutions.
Promoting Democracy and Freedom
- President Bush proposed doubling the budget of the National Endowment for Democracy to $80 million specifically to strengthen democracy and tolerance around the world through its work with civil society organizations. He will also aggressively promote democracy and reform through a range of initiatives including the Broader Middle East and North Africa Initiative. He continues to lead the world in fighting corruption through the G-8 Transparency Initiative and other measures."
