Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich das richtig übersetzt habe. Mein Englisch ist nur noch ein rudimentäres Überbleibsel der Schulzeit:-). Von da her, falls das völlig ohne Belang sein sollte, bitte ich um Entschuldigung. Die Gefahr mich zu Blamieren gehe ich hiermit ein:-).
Ansonsten (falls ich richtig liegen sollte), vor allem wenn ich an die Quelle denke, hört sich das für mich (??) recht eindeutig an.

Ukraine confronts an especially difficult situation. Ukraine inherited European traditions, but Soviet rule also had an impact. It is has complicated relations between east and west Ukraine. Nevertheless, both sides support reforms and the left is weak. More threatening is the creation of another oligarchic regime, something that may even have the support of some in the West. A new vision of geopolitics is necessary, one where principles and values drive integration. European states should be able to join Europe on the basis of free choice. Obstacles to self- determination are not that great. Fill out the form, get references, pay money, then you are in. Thus, there is hope for Ukraine.
