I recall Peter Lynch, who became famous at Fidelity years ago, giving advice to the"average man" about investing. He said:"Look around your local area, local stores, local manufacturers and you will get a good idea of how the economy is doing". I've done that, and I'm watching jobs being lost on a daily basis, and I mean"daily". The largest chain manufacturing company in the U.S. (where I used to work and still have friends), is eyeballing having their production shifted to China in order to compete in the U.S. and foreign markets. We're losing jobs from across many sectors, particularly basic manufacturing, but also software, high tech. manufacturing, food, hardware, clothing etc.
These knuckleheads from Bloomberg and all of the other government controlled media are pulling a Goebels on us. Repeat and repeat how"good" everything"is". How long can it last, until we really see the emperor with no clothes?
BTW, we're also seeing a substantial increase in robbery related crimes. We have approximately 2-3 robberies from banks and stores here every week! Also some recent"home invasions" as well. I have a concealed weapons carry permit for several years and practice weekly at a local range. Believe me, I hope I never have to use a weapon, but things have gotten so bad that self defense management is as important as money management.
So yes, the economy is improving:-)
