What the heck happened today?

I go off to a meeting and come back to find the stock down 17%. I look at the chart and see that it was driven down to $0.30 for about 30 seconds or so, just long enough to snarf up every stop-loss offer out there. Is this what happened? I can't think of anything else that would explain such a momentary drop and recovery.

I guess so. Everyone keeps saying there were only 100 share trades, but how can that be? Aren't there any big holders left? Why would you even bother to put in a stop with 100 shares? Someone must have come in with a huge sell program and put it at.30 (or lower) so everything above that all the way to.78 sold. If you would have had an offer in at.40, you might have been able to buy as much as you wanted at that price. What happens, I think is that brokerages will not let you put in offers more than 30% below market, so there would not be many offers below.55 You would have had to be watching with your finger on the trigger and buy just as it was falling to get the best price. What a screwed up system. If they let you sell at.30, they oughta let you buy at.30 too.
