I don't know how many times that I have to say this but China isn't the source of our problem with oil. It is simply a matter of the incompetence of our past three Administrations together with the undue and out of control influence of the Israeli lobby in formulating policy.
Prior to 1990, Iraq was steadily pumping 7 million BPD of sweet crude. After Gulf War I, the war and the sanctions imposed by three successive US Administrations reduced Iraqi output to only 3 million BPD. Now, the current Bush Administration, without a doubt hugely influenced by Israel, has invaded, occupied, and is currently waging war against an Iraqi resistance that is not only winning the war on the ground, but is able to cut the flow of oil to zero at will.
A total of almost 7 million BPD of production has been lost to the world through the arrogance and incompetence of US leadership. That is almost 2 1/2 times the daily usage of China and fully 1/3 of the daily usage in the US. There is no way possible for OPEC to make up for 7 BPD of lost production now or in the future. If the US had not imposed sanctions and invaded Iraq, the international oil companies would have been able to repair the damage to Iraq's oil fields and embark on a program of exploration to fully utilize potential capacity. Of course we wouldn't let that happen and now have made such a mess of the country that it may never be possible for decades.
One doesn't read or hear a thing about why oil prices are so high. It's almost like no one wants to even whisper the truth less it be known just how incompetent our leadership actually is. Of course we all know who is paying for it.
