If those estimates prove correct, the two storms will have wiped out about 2 percent of the nation's annual production of those fuels, based on production data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

"You had a refining system that was running at its maximum capacity," said Rayola Dougher, manager of energy market issues at the American Petroleum Institute."You take that 2 percent out, and the market is really going to miss that."

Interessant sind die Schlussfolgerungen für die Gas- und Heizölversorgung in diesem Winter. Das wird nicht spurlos am deutschen Heizölmarkt vorbeigehen!
