GATA And Gold Lose Its Finest Warrior - Ferdi Lips Dead At 74
"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." --Henry David Thoreau
This one is tough to take. Ferdi Lips, gold’s most prolific and articulate champion, died last night following complications from back surgery, a surgery which kept him from attending Gold Rush 21, which he so dearly wanted to come to. I spoke to Ferdi only last week and planned to catch up with him in Munich in November. Ferdi had not stepped foot in the United States in 20 years, but had planned to come to the New Orleans Investment Conference just to hook up with the GATA gang - before that was cancelled.
Ferdi was such a gentleman and so smart. He got behind GATA from day one and his support never wavered. It makes me sick to my stomach that good people like Ferdi will not be around to enjoy gold’s coming heyday. If there was anyone in the world who deserved to see that, it was Ferdi. One by one GATA is losing our staunchest advocates and sincere friends. I will miss him very much and work that much harder to defeat The Gold Cartel bums.
What a brutal week. The latest on Brett:

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:
Gold's cause and the cause of free markets and fair
dealing have suffered a terrible blow with the death
yesterday in Switzerland of Ferdinand Lips, the
world-renowned gold advocate, gold banker, mining
company and investment fund director, author of
"Gold Wars," and beloved friend and longtime
supporter of the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee.
In recent months Lips had been battling various
infirmities of age, and while he was unable to
attend GATA's Gold Rush 21 conference in Dawson
City, Yukon Territory, Canada, last month, he
wrote a magnificent and instructive speech and
arranged to have it presented by his partner in
the Top Gold Fund, J.P. Schumacher, another dear
friend of GATA.
Lips titled his speech"Three Revolutions" and
you can find it here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gata/message/3260
"Three Revolutions" is an outline for and bequest
to the future and is sure to live on after him.
GATA conveys its condolences to Lips' family and
friends and will strive to be worthy of his memory.
CHRIS POWELL, Secretary/Treasurer
Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee Inc.
