-->The ISM's non-manufacturing index plunged from 65.0 in August to 53.3 in September, a reading still above 50 to indicate month-to-month growth. But the pace of growth slowed sharply as new orders fell to 56.6 from 65.8 and employment fell to 54.9 from 59.6.

Prices paid, which soared in Monday's ISM manufacturing report, also soared, to a record 81.4 from 67.1. The data will raise concerns at the Federal Reserve that disruptions and shortages from the hurricanes may be feeding a burst of inflationary pressures.
