Die internationale Presse hat in Reaktionen am Freitag den Rücktritt Oskar Lafontaines überwiegend als positives Zeichen für die Wirtschaft gewertet. In ihren Beiträgen bezweifelten viele Kommentatoren aber die künftige Stabilität der deutschen Regierung.
Das englische Massenblatt"The SUN", das sich als Auslöser für den Rücktritt Lafontaines ansieht, erinnert auf der Titelseite daran, den Finanzminister als"gefährlichsten Mann Europas" bezeichnet zu haben. Die Überschrift:"Wir haben Wege, Deinen Rücktritt zu erzwingen" wird lautschriftlich mit einem deutschen Azent gedruckt.
