-->Now that the key committee of the Senate has rushed through its approval of Dr. Ben Bernanke to be the next Fed Chairman, I feel it is clear his acceptance by the U.S. Senate is a foregone conclusion. So now I feel I can safely speak my mind on this man. I have long believed that Fate or Destiny can be counted on in times of great stress or great opportunity to bring forth the ideal leader for the time and place. This is one of those times, and Dr. Bernanke is such a man. If you have signed up to get my Money-Forecast Letter by email, you have already read my December Letter. And if you watched the Senate hearings for Bernanke then you know his blunt, precise answers to pointed questions by the Senators exactly fit the pattern I had laid out. I have read his works for three years. I feel that I am inside of his mind.
ALMOST NO ONE ON WALL STREET OR IN THE FINANCIAL MEDIA UNDERSTANDS THIS COMPLEX MAN. BUT I BELIEVE THEY WILL COME TO KNOW HIM, MAYBE A LOT SOONER THAN THEY NOW EXPECT. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ALAN GREENSPAN REALIZES A NEW AGE IS PRESSING TO BE BORN IN MONEY AND FINANCE. I NOW WONDER WHETHER GREENSPAN WILL NOT SEEK RELEASE FROM HIS GREAT DUTIES, NOW THAT HIS HEIR AND PROTEGE IS READY.
Should that happen, bankers, brokers, investors, corporate chieftains, entrepreneurs, politicians and private investors will discover the awesome depth of knowledge and wisdom in this man. And they will learn first hand that - just as he promised the President on the day he was offered the Chairmanship of the Fed - he will make as his first priority the extension and acceleration of prosperity in the U.S.A. He has spent his life studying the times when America slipped into panics, recessions, depressions… and he intends to see that none of this will happen on his watch. The one factor that will prevent any of these and virtually guarantee one of the greatest periods of prosperity since World War II is a plentiful supply of money.
