The US consumer

WSJ reports that Thanksgiving weekend store sales jumped
22% y/y. The average shopper spent $302.81. Online shopping
rose the same 22% but may take off today, “cyber-
Monday,” when shoppers return to work and their office PC’s
to shop some more.. The National Retail Federation estimates
that for the season, sales will rise 6%, after 6.7% last year. So
much for higher heating oil and gas prices.
