-->WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Led by demand for military aircraft, orders for new U.S.-made durable goods increased 3.4% in October. The gain was much larger than expected. Economists had forecast orders to rise 1.4%. Excluding the transportation sector, orders rose 0.3% in October. Durable orders in September were revised to a 2.0% decrease from 2.4% previously estimated. Shipments of durable goods increased 1.4% in October after remaining flat in September. Orders for core capital goods equipment rose 1.3% in October after falling 1.7% in the previous month.
