Subject: Hidden Agendas, Weird FED Action, what IS happening?


Maybe we shall know sometime on Friday - weaker than expected Unemployment report, or another LTCM debacle, or CA utility bankriptcy, or????
But something big has happened or is happening or will happen soon which could result in a huge move up or down. The main reason for my concern is the most unFED like behaviour of the FED yesterday and today and silence from the big kahunas (Clinton, Cohen, the IBs, brokers, Summers, Sperling....)

Firstly, the FED cut the funds rate by 50 basis points and the discount rate 25 basis points yesterday, between meetings, and
as Art Cashen said, at an unusual time - during the afternoon. The FED usually comes in during the morning session.

Now, another shocker this evening!!! The FED cuts the discount rate by another 25 basis points!!! AFTER THE MARKET CLOSES! why??? is JAPAN about to tank tonight?? why is the YEN collapsing? Strange and scary stuff, we live in interesting times.

I would not bet against the FED, they can do anything: flood the economy with paper, cut again, send in the PPT, you just can't fight the FED. Hence my upward bias.
