as an aside, has anybody asked themselves what exactly triggered today's goldrally? after all, there were many excuses for gold to continue its correction of the day before.
i believe i know what the trigger was. credit spreads on subprime mortage bonds blew out to 1100 bips, from 940 two days prior. the triple B mortage bond index is positively crashing, having plunged well below 80 now (two months ago, 101). NFI was the latest subprime lender to blow up. imo gold is reacting to these events at the margin of the credit bubble. it senses big trouble.
Gold wasn't the only commodity that rallied yesterday, with oil spiking up over 60 and corn hitting 10 year highs. Whatever the reason, it was broad-based.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to answer my question posted earlier....what is the"deficit risk premium" on T-bills? I have read that it is at a 7 year high. Is this related to the credit problems you note?
Heißt das Ganze einfach --- steigende Zinsen in USA oder gar Finanzierungsprobleme --- oder spielen gar die"Yen-Carry-Trades" als Auslöser
dafür eine Rolle.
