US-Wirtschaftsdaten: Redbook Retail Average, Richmond Fed Manufacturing Survey

Heute kamen drei Wirtschaftsindikatoren zur Veröffentlichung.
~ zunächst die wöchentlichen Redbook Retail Average - Einzelhandelsumsätze für die Woche, die am 9. Juni endete im Vergleich zum Mai. Lagen die Umsätze in der Woche zuvor noch bei +0,4%, wurden heute -1,1% gemeldet.
hier der Chart:
~ dann den ebenfalls wöchentlichen Weekly Chain Store Sales Index, für die Woche, die am 9.6.2001 endete. Wie in der Vorwoche liegt der Wert bei +0,3%.

~ The shipments index improved slightly over last month to -20, but has remained entrenched in negative territory since last October. The volume of new orders index also posted negative values over the same time period. There remain few signs of a turnaround in current manufacturing activity as inventories are accumulating at a faster pace.
~ Labor markets continue to contract as the both the number of employees and the average workweek declined from last month. Layoffs continue at textile and furniture plants. However, the manufacturing slowdown has not relaxed wage pressures as modest growth occurred over the last month.
~ Federal Reserve interest rate cuts have not stimulated capital expenditures. The index declined from 8 to -5 in May.
~ Respondents are less optimistic about future conditions than a month ago. The expected shipments index fell 13 points to 24, as well as declines in the number of new orders, backlogs, number of employees, and averages workweek indices.
