Below are the results of our weekly"Guess the Dow" sentiment
survey. The survey was taken from 07/30 through 08/05 on the
LowRisk.com web site.

Number of participants: 340

30 day outlook:

41% bullish, 19% previous week
37% bearish, 55% previous week
32% neutral, 26% previous week

(percentages may not sum to 100 due to rounding)

The median guess for the Dow closing value on Friday, 08/10:
10,500 (it was 10,201 last week). More complete sentiment data is
available at: <http://www.lowrisk.com/sentiment.htm>.


Bullish sentiment jumped dramatically last week, from 19% to 41%.
Bearish sentiment also made a dramatic move, dropping from 55% to
37%. Of course, a rise in bullishness and a drop in bearishness
is to be expected after a week in which the market indexes closed
higher. Meanwhile, neutral sentiment rose from 26% to 32%...that
is a pretty high neutral reading, the type of reading that often
seems to presage an increase in market volatility.
