TOKYO, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Tokyo's benchmark Nikkei share index slid 2.7 percent to a fresh 16-year intraday low on Monday morning, with high-tech issues taking a beating after two core domestic players -- Advantest Corp and Rohm Co Ltd -- unveiled painful profit warnings late last week.
The Nikkei was down 2.7 percent at 11,417.70 as of 10:15 a.m., while the broader, capital-weighted TOPIX (^TOPX - news) slumped 18.97 points or 1.60 percent to 1,163.52.
Advantest, Japan's top maker of semiconductor testing devices, plunged 6.62 percent to 7,900 yen.
After the market close on Friday, Advantest slashed its group net profit forecast for the year to next March to 4.0 billion yen ($32.80 million) from an April estimate of 25 billion yen.
Speciality chip maker Rohm, which also announced a profit warning after Friday's close, was ask-only at 155,00 yen in mid-morning trade, down sharply from 175,000 at the previous close.
These profit warnings dampened other chip-related stocks including Kyocera Corp, the world's biggest maker of IC ceramic packages, which was down by daily limit of 1,000 yen or 10.72 percent at 8,330.
