The broker (formerly known as The boxer)
The Broker
I am just a poor boy,
Though my story's seldom told,
I have squandered my subsistence
On a pocket full of tumbles, such are equities
All lies and jests
Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest.
When I left my home
And my family,
I was no more than a boy
In the company of brokers
In the quiet of the trading station,
Learning trade,
Paying low,
Seeking out the killer orders
Where the manic people go
Looking for the aces
In my portfolio
Lie la lie...
Seems there's no more rising prices
I come looking for a profit,
But I fill no coffers,
Just a come-on from the whores
A Seventh Avenue
IRT fare
There were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there.
Lie la lie...
Then I'm looking at investment lows
And wishing I was gone,
Going home
Where the bubble-vision anchors
Aren't bleeding me,
Leading me,
Going home.
In the clearing stands a trader,
And his living was his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry loss that laid him down
And cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame,
"I am leaving, I am leaving."
But the broker still remains...
Lie la lie..........
