Nokia versucht alles
HELSINKI (FTMW) - Shares of Nokia [NOK] closed up 4.3 percent to 46.95 after the Finnish mobile handset maker said it would buy back 36 million of its shares following a sharp drop in its share price in response to a rare profit warning.
The company said on Friday it plans to buy back the shares in the open market at market price starting on August 4. The shares will partly be used to finance acquisitions, Nokia said. The buyback will cost Nokia about 1.7 billion euros at current market price.
