Jetzt mal zur Sache. Robert Gordon, Prof. of economics NW University, hat sich letzte Woche in der FT UK mit der"Produktivität" bzw. ihrem Wachstum in den USA beschäftigt. Die Egebnisse (muss leider die Tabelle auf engl. bringen, da keine Zeit zum langen Übersetzen):

Decomposition of US productivity (p.) growth acceleration

1995-99 compared to 1972-95 (% = annual groth rates)

Actual p. growth 95/99 = 2,75
Subtract Actual p. growth 72/95 = 1,42
Macht 1,33
Ab: Cyclical effects 0,50, Messfehler 0,14, effect of improved composition of labour input 0,05
Macht Sustainable acceleration in p. growth 0,64
Ab: Effect of technological acceleration in computers and peripherals 0,29 und same effect in other durables 0,28
Macht Remaining acceleration in p. in nun-durable economy 0,07
Ab: Contribution of capital accumulation in computer ("capital-deepening") 0,33
Bleiben: Implied technological acceleration in non-durable economy

- 0, 2 6 %.

Summary (FT):"Robert Gordon finds little evidence of a third industrial revolution taking place across most of US industry" Und die FT-Headline auch noch dazu:

NOT MUCH OF A NEW ECONOMY

Tja, und der Prof. schließt:

"The rapid onset of diminishing returns suggests that the greatest productivity contribution of computers lies in the past (!!), not in the futuere."

Alles von wegen"rasanter Produktivitätssteigerung" in den USA is a) brainwash und b) bullshit. Gordon ist ein renommierter Ami, nota bene!
