Aus dem Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine 1 eleventh edition, 1987, Seite 557. (Harrison = Standardwerk)

Anthrax is worldwide; repeated outbreaks have occured insouthern Europe, notably Greece and Turkey, the Middle East (particularly Iran), Africa (Zimbabwe and Gambia), Australia and New Zealand, and on both American nontinents. From 1975 to 1976, under 2000 cases of anthrax were reported to the World Health Organization. This is very likely an underestimate. In the United States, immunization programs for high-risk occupational groups, better industrial protective measures, and decreased contact with contaminated animal products have markedly reduced the number of reported cases of anthrax. No cases were reported in 1981 to 1983, and one case was reported in 1984.

Also, 1984 wurde ein Fall sicher in den USA dokumentiert. Ab 1985 müsste ich neuere Quellen einsehen. Ungenau sind auch die Angaben vorher, es wird immer von"rarely" gesprochen. Ich werde mal den Begriff durch medline durchlaufen lassen.
Aber nicht zu vergessen sind die dürftigen Dokumentationsgewohnheiten.
